| I started playing ukulele 3 years ago because I started learning hula with my wife. My skill never gets better but the number of ukulele is increasing somehow. I'm not a collecter but every ukulele has its own unique sound and just can't stop trying another one. |

| Kamaka Soprano 70's My second uke, bought from E-bay in October 2002. It's tone is bright and loud. I changed strings from original Kamaka's to GHS Black Nylon and found tuning got easier. Instead of rosewood finger board of the recent Kamaka, it uses one piece of koa wood for its neck and finger board. The B grade curly koa looks cool. |
Kamaka Pineapple 04's The newest uke among mine. Bought in Hawaii in 2004 Jan. It does not sound like old Kamaka. The volume of sound is smaller. It seems taking some more years to grow up. The glossy coating seems to be thicker than Kamakas from 70's. Sinece the other older ukuleles sound better, I have not spend much time with this uke. |
Kamaka Concert 70's My favorite uke. Sounds is loud and crispy. Just sounds like old hula numbers. Bought from E-bay in Feb 2003. It has the engraves of the previous owner's name on its head but I don't care as it sounds just right. Its tone is loud and bright. I love this uke so much. Mr. Jon Windham , please contact me. I like to tell you the uke is played much and keeping its good shapes. |

| Kamaka 6 strings Tenor I'm not sure how old is this. It has a TIKI on its head. Maybe 70's because of the TIKI. It sounds great. I recently took off the 5th string, low A, to make playing easier and sounds lighter. Bought on E-bay in Dec. 2002. Please advise me if someone knows how old this uke might be. |
Martin Style 0 50's? Finally bought Marting Style 0. From its peg shapes and logos, it should be from 50's. It sounds so loud and its tone is mild. It is just amazing how such a small soprano size uke can play loudly. Amazing how accurate these frets are. I put the Aquila Nylgut Strings and sound become sharper. I may set GHS or Martin strings to make the sound milder later. |
Ukulele Pineapple Bought at the Ukulele Picnic (Pool side concert held at Zushi Marina in 2002 Aug.). Bought for bad weather BBQ party but never had chance to play at outdoor. The volume of sound may not be enough to be played outdoor. When and where should I use this ? |

| K-Wave Concert My first ukulele bought in August 2001. It was made in Korea and sold through Kiwaya, one of the biggest ukulele manufacturer and distributer in Japan. The frets were accurate and carefully made but just did not sound like an ukulele. It sounded more like a mini-guitar. I liked it as it was my first uke. When I moved to Korea from Japan in April 2003, it was given to my friend who had learned hula with me. Hoping this uke is living with happiness. |

| .Lanikai Bought in Hawaii in 2004 for my kids'. Its geared peg is easy to tune. It is inexpensive but well made in China. Koji likes this uke and he once put 10 model cars in its body. |
Aloha UK-500 Another poor uke for my kids. It was bought at $24 and it has been abused so much since Oct 2002. My kids rode this uke like a horse, hit a ball like a baseball bat, ate the head like a rice cracker, used as a pillow, used as a toy shaker and finally sometimes used as an instrument. Despite of the abuse, the sounds gets louder and louder somehow. Interesting one |
